Many odd facts on patch management
If the malware is complicated, so will be the security patch. Complex networks frequently and unintentionally leave security holes that hackers can exploit to their advantage, rendering the system vulnerable to attack. In the early days of computers, a user received a security patch on paper tape or punch card. He was expected to extract the outdated or flawed portion of the original tape or deck himself and "patch" the replacement in (hence the name). Security patch formats evolved in later years to magnetic tape, disks and then CD ROMs, along with computer technology.
